RECRUITMENT PROCESS PROVIDER TWC GROUP PARTNERS WITH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH EXPERTS

New Offering Provides Groundbreaking Look into Executives' Future Behavior

Audubon PA (June 20, 2007) – Nearly one-third of all CEOs dismissed in 2006 had occupied their positions fewer than three years, and many were at the top for less than one year. Today, senior-level executives face shorter tenures and higher expectations from shareholders. Whether it's an emerging growth firm pushing to go to market with the "next great thing" or a large corporation striving to remain competitive, it's clear that acquiring the best people isn't enough; finding the best fit that will excel in the organization is imperative to success, according to TWC Group, a leading provider of recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) based outside of Philadelphia. This means understanding how to place key executives where they will thrive and how to form teams that will collaborate effectively.

TWC Group is collaborating with the Foster Group, a team of experienced behavioral clinicians, to provide a solution to the uncertainties of predicting executive performance. "At TWC Group, our primary expertise is recruiting and retaining a company's most valuable asset – their people," said Terry Williams, CEO and chairman at TWC Group. "Our clients rely on our experience and knowledge to grow, manage and keep their top talent so they can focus on running their core business. The Foster Group's clinical approach to evaluating key executives dovetails nicely with our best-practices approach to finding the right people for the right position."

Jody Foster, MD, MBA, and Reed Goldstein, PhD, are the managing directors of the Foster Group. "The Foster Group combines more than 35 years of collective experience in behavioral health with proven testing methodologies to create a truly effective way to determine how well an executive's attributes match up with the skills necessary to perform in a defined situation," said Dr. Foster, who currently serves as executive medical director of Penn Behavioral Health Corporate Services at University of Pennsylvania and chair of the Psychiatry Department at Pennsylvania Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS). Added Dr. Goldstein, "While past successes may be indicative of an executive's potential, our comprehensive solution provides priceless insight into future performance, team dynamics and areas of improvement in the context of a specific circumstance." Dr. Goldstein is associate director, Adult Treatment Psychiatric Inpatient Service, at Pennsylvania Hospital of UPHS.

The Executive Diagnostic is especially valuable for investment assessments and for businesses undergoing major change such as a shift in ownership, key leadership or strategic direction. Some benefits include:

Emerging Growth Companies
The emerging growth company typically runs lean, so investors understand the critical role that leadership plays in the company's success.

  • Investor Due Diligence - assess the capabilities of key executives of a portfolio company.
  • Hiring Key Executives - evaluate a candidate's ability to lead within a particular team, culture, or situation.
  • Team Dynamics - measure the quality of collaboration and leadership within the executive team.

Large Companies
Fortune 500 companies continue to evolve to stay competitive with smaller, more agile players, so stakeholders need to know that they have the right team in place to lead this change.

  • Post Merger & Acquisition - evaluate key executives' ability to lead within an M&A framework.
  • Change Management - assess how executives will cope with and support a significant change in company strategy.
  • Team Dynamics - measure the quality of interaction and collaboration within a division or team.

How it Works
Before the Executive Diagnostic process begins, an experienced behavioral clinician meets with the client to outline the procedures and discuss potential outcomes and concerns. The three-pronged methodology provides a comprehensive, multi-layered approach to collecting and analyzing information. The structured portion is standardized to objectively evaluate personality and emotional qualities that could impact job demands. The semi-structured portion involves face-to-face clinical interviews that measure the ability to think creatively and abstractly in unfamiliar situations. The unstructured portion is an informal exchange that brings out interpersonal strengths and weaknesses. Only trained, seasoned behavioral clinicians conduct interviews, administer testing and interpret results.

Among the first of TWC Group’s clients to administer the Executive Diagnostic was Osage Ventures, a venture capital fund that invests in IT/enabling technology and life science/healthcare businesses in the Northeast corridor. They found that the assessment provided useful information that impacted decisions on executive leadership. Darren Wallis, managing partner at Osage Ventures, reported, "By administering the Executive Diagnostic, we were able to obtain insight into how the management team interacted and collaborated with each other and how this could potentially impact the company's performance. I recommend that investors investigate this tool to better understand how investment initiatives will be met."
